With the modernization of Social Security services in the digital area, the use of online platforms has become essential for consulting and managing all related matters. On the other hand, the growing need to prepare workers for the final stage of their professional career, in a scenario where the aging of the active population and the complex regulations on retirement and pre-retirement require greater knowledge and preparation. Today, many workers face difficulties in using these platforms, which can generate doubts and insecurities about their rights and the transition to Pre-Retirement or Retirement itself, making the support of HR Teams fundamental for the well-being of these workers and the success of this stage.

Description

  • Human resources technicians, managers, directors who wish to acquire or update their knowledge about Pre-Retirement, Retirement, and use the platforms for interaction with Social Security.

Equip participants with theoretical and practical knowledge about the legal framework of retirement situations within private sector employment (treatment and assumptions) and from the perspective of Social Security Law (assumptions, benefits, and conditions).

David Carvalho Martins

Founding partner and director of DCM | Littler (Portugal), master’s degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, and doctoral candidate at the University of Murcia (Spain). He was named one of the best lawyers by Chambers Awards Europe in 2023, also receiving recognition from Best Lawyers and Iberian Lawyer. He was a guest assistant at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon until February 2022 (Introduction to the Study of Law, General Theory of Civil Law, Contract Law, Property Law, Succession Law, Civil Procedure Law, Commercial Law, Economic Law, European Union Law, Private International Law, and Labor Law); guest assistant at the Faculty of Law of the New University of Lisbon (2014-2015) and the European University (Lisbon) (since 2014). He was a guest lecturer at the European University in Private International Law (2014) and Labor Law (since 2018-2019). He was also a guest lecturer in postgraduate courses organized by the Institute of Labor Law of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, the Faculty of Law of the New University of Lisbon, the Portuguese Catholic University – Porto School, and NovaSBE, guest lecturer of the master’s course in Social Rights, organized by Eduardo Mondlane University, in Mozambique (2014-2017), and technical specialist and assistant in the Office of the Secretary of State for Employment (2011-2012). He is a founding member and former president of the Association of Young Labor Lawyers (AJJ), member and board member of the Portuguese Association of Labor Law (APODIT), the Spanish Association of Labor and Social Security Law (AEDTSS), the International Labour and Employment Relations Association (ILERA), the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA), and the CIELO Laboral network. He is currently also a speaker at conferences and seminars, promoted by national and foreign organizations, on Labor Law topics.

António Monteiro Fernandes

Consultant at DCM | Littler (Portugal). Holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra. Honorary Doctorate from the University of Messina (Italy). He taught in the area of Individual and Collective Labor Law and related areas at the former Institute of Economics (now ISEG), the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon, and the Lusíada University of Porto. Currently, he is a guest professor at NOVA School of Law and the Faculty of Law of the Lusófona University of Lisbon. Since 2011, he has been a visiting professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Trento (Italy). Author of over a hundred articles in national and international journals, he has published several books, the most recent of which are: the manual “Labor Law,” in its 20th edition (2020), “Labor Law Writings” (2019), and “A History of Labor Laws” (2021). He was a member of the ILO Board of Directors (2008/2011).
